My name is Danielle. I consider the Seattle area home, but have learned to love the mountains of Utah. I am a senior studying nursing here at UVU and goodness knows it has been a long, wonderful, difficult road. I very rarely have free time but make time to train for marathons and half-marathons because they help me stay grounded with all the craziness of life. The true joys of my life are my three adorable nieces and my spunky nephew. I love to travel and experience new cultures.
I never thought I would ever have any desire to join the medical world, but nursing called to me when I was about 19 years old. Ever since I started on this path I have had no desire to look back.
In the midst of my journey to nursing, international mental health has perpetually come to the forefront of my mind. In my international travels I have seen mental illness misunderstood, disregarded, and even overtly spurned. My dream career would be to become a nurse practitioner, working with international health organizations addressing these issues.
Not only is a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing necessary to progress to a Doctorate Degree, but my learning and progress at UVU has been invaluable to my future success. I have been pushed, supported, and grown more here than I could have anywhere else.
I cannot begin to thank you both for your support of students’ learning in general as well as my personal success. School is both expensive and difficult, and any outside support is invaluable. Thank you for your time and for sharing your resources to help students like me achieve their dreams!
